We went January 2nd so it was very cold. Important to have layers and highly recommend bringing enough cash to rent a big heavy woolen blanket at the top, when you stop in little shelters and wait for the sunrise. It’s very cold sitting during that waiting period without the blanket, and cold sitting up on the mountain enjoying the sunrise. The blanket blocks the wind and is really worth it.

We were pick up from our hotel, drove to start point of Mt Sinai ascend with a couple of toilet stop. Our group was place in the capable hand of a couple of Bedouins guide who took us to the top and had a wonderful view of the sunrise. A few things I'll mentioned for anyone doing this trip. It' can get very cold at the top, but as you are climbing and being active you need to layer up otherwise you will be either too hot or cold. During the whole ascent you will be offer camel ride (I'm not sure how much they were, if you want to do it nor how far they will take you). At the starting point you will be offer all kinds of clothes and more for the ascent. Many stop will have got drinks and snacks but cash is king there (again we were prepared, seasoned hikers so had flasks of hot drinks with us and food). Toilet are not free (10 EGT/per use).

Very challenging night hike but with beautiful views in the morning! Our guide Ramadan was nice friendly and spoke many languages. Our Bedouin guide was also nice and caring. Overall good experience but the hike was knackering even though we are quite experienced hikers. Make sure to bring VERY WARM clothes in layers, winter jacket/coat with a hood, gloves, scarf, hat, long trousers, and most importantly - proper hiking boots and warm socks. Temperature on the top of the mountain was sub zero in mid December with strong bone chilling winds. Blankets can be rented for 300 Egyptian Pounds, bring cash. Frequent stops on the way but so many people and very little space inside the huts. Obviously no heaters and only one basic toilet up the mountain. Not an issue for us but water was not provided as promised in the tour description. Perhaps spring or summer months might be better for this trip.
